You mean price taking, not necessarily competitive.

We know that demand-supply analysis is correct only under competitive markets.
But nearly all basic textbooks and daily life simple analysis uses the demand-supply framework.
Then, how do we justify the use of D/S when perfectly competitive markets basically do not exist?

But sometimes this might mean that you have to be dishonest, and/or go along with them against other colleagues. I can't stomach that. And remember: no one is your true friend in your department. They will make it look like they are as long as they need you, your support, your vote. And really, most of the time you can't be neutral. You need to pick sides, and you will end up making enemies even when you do not have any intention.

I'll add:
Make friends with the right people in your department--or at the very least don't make them your enemies.

What exactly happened with Adriana? She also had solo authored papers.
Should you coauthor with peers from graduate school?
why not re: 3
Because they'll get all the credit, even if you do all the work. See also: Lleras-Muney, A.

She might have had a few solo articles, but I've heard that all of her best work was with true stars (e.g., Honore). And Princeton being Princeton, it's near impossible to get tenure there even with nothing but sole-authored top hits...

Please refer me to the paper that answers his challenges. He said that the neoclassical consumer theory doesn't tell us what quality and convenience actually are. These terms are undefined. Deep down, you know that's true. Can you give the concepts a geometric representation?

I have sat in on many hiring decisions, and it's as I outlined above -- coauthor with someone more famous, and you are seen as riding their coattails and you get way less than half the credit. Coauthor with someone less famous, and now you are seen as having done most of the work.

So really, you want a mix of things in your CV for tenure and promotion, but mostly sole-authored pieces and pieces with 'younger' folks.

But if you have undergrad RA, then just get A Probability Path by Resnick. Its the best book to learn measure theory and probability. After Resnick you should be able to move through chung pretty quickly.
