My name is Sean Lally, I am an independent executive recruiter and I am conducting a search for a SR Economist for Edmunds.com in Santa Monica. This position has incredible growth potential to quick rise a Chief Economist level as well as joining the executive leadership team

Edmunds wants someone who has excellent communication skills who is an independent and creative thinker, someone who is not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom

    SENIOR ECONOMIST

Most consumers know Edmunds as the largest source of information on automobiles in the US market, but our ability to track and interpret vast amounts of consumer information allows us to play an increasing role as a spokesperson for the industry.

Beyond simply reporting trends, we have a growing position as a thought leader by challenging accepted thinking using economic fundamentals applied to the data at our disposal. We are looking for a candidate to fill our new position of Senior Economist to expand these activities within our non-traditional, fast-paced environment.

Edmunds.com is seeking a Senior Economist to conduct economic research on automotive related data and apply economic/behavioral/gaming theories to analyze consumer behavior and industry trends

An ideal candidate will have the ability to blend economic theory, data and insight into human behavior in ways that add clarity to current events. Experience in the auto industry is not required, but a willingness to learn in a collaborative work environment is essential. This individual will work very closely with the Executive team at Edmunds, it should be an exciting position for the right individual.

    • Monitor government policies and macroeconomic data in the automotive industry and interpret their impact on the industry in areas such as vehicle production, sales, pricing and incentives.
    • Serve as an industry expert in business development meetings, industry events and media interviews; participate in media interviews as one of the company’s spokespeople.

    Requirements:
    • PhD (Economics, Statistics or related quantitative field preferred) with successful track record developing insights supported by appropriate metrics and data
    • 5-10 years of experience conducting professional research and analysis
    • Working knowledge of SAS or other econometric software and tools
    • Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities for regular interactions with executives, media, clients and other contacts

^That's awesome. Can I turn the fresh fruit into a Smoothie? Or do I have to eat it as is? That's a deal breaker for me.

FYI, I lived in Santa Monica. It's REALLY expensive. The pay better be well over $120K.
