the reason Bruckner is not at a top institution has to do with his advisor. They had an argument and it is pretty unclear what his and his advisor's contribution is (for the ECMA paper in particular)....
That's interesting. I heard it had more to do with his family preferences for Asia, but your story sounds more plausible.
look i am not saying that bruckner is not the head of the co-authored papers with his advisor. quite on the contrary, he probably is. but he had troubles with his advisor, and that is a major issue when going on the job market.
in any case he is ultra productive anf very successful....

i don't think i would have been able to TYPE 18 manuscripts in one year, let alone do the analysis, write them up, submit them, do the revisions, and get them published!

1. Can't compare the quality of pubs to Bruckner's.
2. Not every paper revised, resubmitted and accepted in year t is actually written in year t.
