How am I supposed to teach econ class after the students see this video?
-
I dare you to take Lucas's biggest contributions and make a video explaining why he does not understand economics. If you don't fancy Lucas then I dare you to take Sargent's work and explain to him why he does not understand economics.
You still think I'm Alex. Told you I'm a TF that needs letters from Profs. If you think that you are daring Alex then do you really think he would be afraid to do that if he had something to say? Isn't the Lucas critique one of the things that made him so famous? Anything like the Gheg critique? What's a bigger problem? blasting forecasting to other PhDs or showing every student that no economist knows what quality and convenience are?

So good.

Mark bils is a god.
According to the people on this site, this god used a CES utlity function to measure quality growth. How does it show up in there? Some mysterious variable called "q" which is something that people demand when they have higher incomes. What is "q" when they face two endowment choices in Alex's video. Option A or B. If you understand "q" then you should use it to explain why EVERYONE picks option A in the real world.combine this with http://thedangerouseconomist.blogspot.com/2012/02/ethics-of-incentives.html
from the comments section:
MrIlir said...I could never keep the difference between ethics and morality straight, but I've got a dilema for an economics professor. Suppose the logical flaws of consumer theory, which is the foundation of the framework, can easily be demonstrated in a short video. Would any show it to the class? What if the video showed a single equation that ties it all together, that is quantity, quality, variety and convenience. Is it impossible to measure utility? Alex Gheg, a former PhD econ student at the U. of Rochester, will shock you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c4mvGekYZY

Good to know that UofR expects you to understand lexiographic preferences in order to get a PhD.
Is Rochester bad? Bils is there isn't he?
stop it dude. you have been outed.I wish I knew what you guys have to gain from non stop accusations. Someone else posted Alex's links in econ blogs. Why doesn't he get an accusation? Why does he keep searching for Alex? I saw the Krugman link. BTW the reposted link from him advertises his equation. What if he really has found something important? Has he already ruined himself?

Actual Rochester grad student here.
Good. Then you can please ask Mark Bils about his quality paper and ask him if he knows what quality is beyond putting a "q" in an equation. If an economist can't answer these things then isn't econ theory just applied amateur math?

What's your *actual* beef with Mark Bils? A fine economist I'm sure, but his "quality" paper you reference is not all that widely cited and it's only a decade old. Yet you repeatedly refer to it as a "classic." What undergrad even knows that paper? Did Bils boot you out of Rochester? If so, this is an awfully weird way to get back at him. And did you honestly think your arguments would gain traction here?
And why do you talk as if the #1 purpose of the economics profession is to come up with a watertight definition of quality? Hell, I don't even have a definition of "economics."
Your arguments were better-reasoned in the JSTOR thread.

One last thought before I go to bed Alex. I have sen the future of your ideas, and it looks a lot like this
