Hugh Jackman has talked about this. How expectations ramped up like crazy during his run on the x and then wolverine movies.People of both sexes in the past were generally thinner. Since being obese has much more negative health consequences than being muscular has positive ones, they were generally healthier in that respect. Exercise was less common (even cardio), but somehow people were thinner. Relatedly, they smoked a ton! It's easier to stay thin when you smoke. It also ages you though. Look at actors in old movies and TV. People in their earlier 40s looked old.
Since smoking has been discouraged it's actually harder to stay thin. But the image promoted now is not just trim, but muscular. In older movies leading men were trim, tall, not bald. But seldom more than "toned" looking.
Oh no, you *must* be imagining things. Only "lo sers" ever stop and wonder where the race to the bottom ends if you keep acquiescing to it.
Do you think the existence of anorexia and plastic surgery should keep women from trying to be thin and cute, too?
Simply not being obese and being extremely muscular are not even close to equivalent. It's completely disingenuous to pretend otherwise, and you know it.
