Me too. I felt I had submitted my paper to the wrong section. My paper looks at a question at the intersection of two streams of literature. The reviewers, as appeared to me, did not have a general understanding of the other stream of literature. They were not in a good position to assess the theoretical development and contribution of my paper. One of the reviewers tried to trash my paper, without giving any constructive feedback. Had I submitted my paper to the other section and gotten reviewers understanding the literature, the outcome might have been different.
You can say that about any journal/conference submission.

Yes, they will finish the flyouts before Miami.
This would have an impact next year. Forced moves this year were not impacted by COVID since tenure decisions would have been in March.
Is it wishful thinking to think that because some schools have increased tenure clock that there will be fewer seasoned applicants on the market this year? Perhaps next year's market will have more seasoned as a result.

This is partially correct. If a person didn't get tenure, they still have the option to take their terminal year, and given the state of the market, I suspect many will take it. If a person was already in their terminal year, they did not get an extra year on their clock. At least not at my school, and I imagine most every school followed suit.
