   I got a rejection for an individual paper submission. 1300 individual papers submitted, 25 percent accepted

   The 25% acceptance rate is the overall paper acceptance rate, not the acceptance rate for individual papers. See this math from another thread:

   Rough math seems to be 1300 individual paper submissions, and 800 paper submissions as part of 200 session proposals.

   Last year there were about 125 total sessions, and about 500 total papers. Assuming it's the same again this year, the paper acceptance rate is 500/2100 = 23.8%.

   They say over and over that individual papers are unlikely to be accepted. Let's assume 100 of them were (which is probably high). That means that 400 accepted papers came from session proposals, or 100 accepted proposals. So the session proposal acceptance rate was 100/200 = 50%.

   This estimate makes it clear why it's far better to submit a session proposal than an individual paper. According to this estimate, a paper in a session has a 50% chance of being accepted. An individually submitted paper has a 7.6% chance!

   Rejected :( - this is the second time, although my first rejected paper already appeared in the top 50 journal. So, I am not discouraged at all with the rejection.

    Yes. No individual paper submission gets into P&P and it is at least 4 times better than being asked to do a poster.

    Anybody have any experience of poster sessions?

    In general? You stand in front of a poster. The big names ignore you. You speak to maybe 5 people in the couple of hours while the posters are running. Then you take down your $300 poster and throw it into a fire. $60 per person and no HRM exposure = lol.

    I participated in a poster session in Philadelphia and there were lots of visitors, they took all the business cards and printed papers I had brought, about 25 each, and few people took both of them. The organiser said the year before there had even been more visitors, depends a bit on where it is located and such things you cannot influence.
