Schools that are hiring are likely to be those that are either mostly sheltered from the budget crisis and/or have the ability to strategically time the labor market (by borrowing against a future line, for example).
Not all private schools are in this situation but private schools with strong endowments are the likely movers. Is there a single state budget that won’t drop this year? Public schools will be relatively screwed.
