Future job market candidates would do well to understand how difficult it is to land a TT position in the economics department at a US R1.
How would UMass ag econ compare with a department like Binghamton? My perception is that: UMass Econ >> Binghamton >> UMass ag econ

What are you talking about, he did MIT econ fcs. Even without a PhD in the top department for his field it would be a weal placement!

I hope you are not a PhD student. If you are, please talk to your advisors and try to understand how difficult the job market is in applied micro, particularly for the last 2-3 years.
