lol not an economist obviously. value of free food is like $4k. who cares when they pay you $500k.

The thing is they don't pay you highly at all. Fresh econ PhDs get paid the same as SDE 1 (BS or MS in CS), whose pay is already at the lower end of the tech spectrum.

According to who? Someone told me L6 range for Sr. Economist at Amazon is 339.5K at low end to 512.6K at the high end this year.
