The annual compensation process is coming up and I'm new (coming up on a year). How does this work?
Is it reasonable to expect a raise? What does the raise look like after a year of experience? Or do you only get a raise once you go to L5? What's the L5 pay range? L6 pay range?
Starts at 350K. There was a Bloomberg article about it yesterday
I think you're referring to the new base salary cap? That's not what I'm talking about here though. I'm talking about total comp ranges for different levels (and years of experience, if that matters).
Used to be no or not much raise in the first cycle because it was all baked in to your offer. This year may be different. But in normal times, you will get a raise in the form of more stock vesting later one and two years out, assuming the stock price has not already pushed you into the right range. If your pay is not already at the cap, I’d guess you could get a bump there too.
If the stock is flat for a year, you’ve been at Amazon for more than a year, and you don’t get a raise, I’d have a serious conversation with your manager about your future at the company…

Econ job family comp is not that far from the software engineer comp, though I think somewhat higher, so just use those as a lower bound, then recognize that everything is likely to get bumped up this year some unknown amount.
Note that it is generally much quicker to hit L6 as an econ PhD than as a software engineer.

So levels.fyi is saying that SDE II total comp is 241k. Is that really standard range for L5 economists?
Horrible company. No free food, free drink. They don't even give employees free prime. Need to spend time finding food during lunch break, which is a hit to productivity.are you an economist?
