Not to be a dick, but it seems like acceptance rates are high this year... Did AEA just expand the poster sessions?
Any news from AEA 2017?

I heard someone got accepted by AEA but to a special "2-hour session with a five- or six-paper format; there are no discussants". I heard the session is dedicated to individual submissions to increase their opportunity of presentation. I don't think this is the same thing with poster session as the author is allocated with time to present the paper. The paper is sole-authored by a PhD student.
Does anyone know anything about these sessions (esp compared with other top conferences)? How good are they and are they the "panel discussion" sessions in 2016 program (https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2016/preliminary.php)?

Yeah they had these last year for solo submissions. They're pretty good, but no discussants.
