As the title says, I am an AP in applied micro at a US institution. Currently making less than 130k, only a 4% pay increase over the last four years, and I am not going up for tenure for a while. Is it worth it to go on the market next year to try to get a competing offer for a pay raise? What would I need in terms of publications for a raise?

OP, do your own work. No one here is as capable. Compare your pubs to outside institutions and look up salaries that are publicly available to get a sense of what you might expect. Generally, you need to be above average relative to a unit in order to get an external offer.

OP, what rank department are you in? I agree this is low for a lot of places, but not all. Do you know if new hires are making a lot more?
Op here from what may be a different hex. Department I am in is optimistically top 70 in the US but likely thinks they are top 50. New hires are making a little more than me, but I am exceeding expected performance by a good margin.

Sorry for Econ bros. Not to make you feel sh/t/y but a finance rookie makes 250 K and a marketing rookie makes 210 K at a decent B-school for a 9-month salary. (plus 2/9 summer)

Dude you lack school spirit. Show up to events, retweet stuff on Twitter, and things may change.

Honestly sounds like you are doing well compared to AEA salary reports.
According to those reports I am below average for junior faculty at PhD granting institutions. Even looking at Table 1B in Tier 5 of the recent AEA P&P summary stats I am below the reported average.
