Time passes quickly, and the “30 year old men are in the prime of their life and have to fight off 22-year-old stacies” meme is just that- a fake meme. You don’t get many second chances when it comes to finding a life partner, so better make it a priority

I think it more likely rests on what one thinks commitment means. If you find someone you care a lot about when you are young, and make a mutual commitment to one another to go through life together, you end up holding hands at 90. You have to mean the commitment part. And you have to go through things together, so you grow together, not apart. But, having a life partner is a mutual choice about a commitment to work through things no matter what.
If this is not something you have the ability or willingness to do, then the related advice is not for you.

You don't seen to understand the concept of basic probabilities. Did you really finish undergrad?

My point is that independent of what you believe or your values, it is still very unlikely that you'll die holding hands at 90 with your college sweetheart. Even if you want to
1 unexpected sh1t happens, that's called life
2 your partner may not fully share your views even if they say so. People change

So it is extremely unlikely that your gf in college or whatever will be your "life partner", therefore your advice of putting job and education after finding a partner is terrible, stup/1/d and not grounded in reality.

I do not think you understand what I meant by commitment or by growing together. But, you are an unpleasant low quality human, judding by the way you respond to people, so I guess there is not much surprise there.

Can you show me where I resorted to offense? The only think I can imagine is that you are referring to where I offered a judgement that someone did not appear to know much economics. Not everyone here does, and saying so is not demeaning personally. There are lots of things I don't know, and if I posted about something I know nothing about, calling me out for it is not personal. If one's posts don't attend to basic econ 101 type things, like keeping a market basket fixed in making purchasing power comparisons, then calling out that they don't seem to know much economics, on a board where we should all be able to assume things like that are common knowledge, is not ad hominem. Yours are.

You also talked about probabilities, but in a way that seems to treat the governing distributions as exogenous to the individual's choices. The probability a partnership formed young endures depends heavily on the effort invested in making it endure. That is on the level of commitment. If making it endure is the top priority, so that you make career, location, hobbies, and everything else subordinate to supporting the partnership, its probability of enduring is much much higher. Little in life is guaranteed.

As I said, if one's priorities will not align with this approach, then all the related advice above is not applicable. We all have to choose our path through life. But, we should not pretend that where we end up is not heavily influenced by choices made and priorities set long ago.
