And public intelligent should be sufficiently high to understand the importance of masks and danger of injection of disinfectant. Now, here is a people who believe that it is because of genetics. If this guy has a phd degree, then there is no hope.
Asians don't get the virus (at normal rates)
-
It’s not so much our government “failed” — they were doing their job til orange wind bag meddled. Fired out whole infectious diseases commission, started putting out anti mask propaganda. It’s more that our government is being held hostage by a malevolent dictator
Singapore has 50K cases and their population is 6 million. South Korea has 14K cases and their population is 50 million. No, it is not about genetics at all...
US has 5 million cases and their population is 300 million. Germany has 200K cases and their population is 80 million. Is this because of genetics?
Dear US bro, it is just because your government has failed. Just admit it and wear a mask.
I don't understand how people who have phd degree can believe this. -
Chinese make up about 0.5% of the UK population and have had 0.4% of all covid deaths. I don't think genetics plays a large role
-
Potentially very serious. It reminds me of a Netflix show in which an enemy group creates a virus that kills only people with a very specific genetic make up.
“We discovered that a gene (ACE1) and its genotype (I/D) seem to provide a plausible explanation for why some ethnic groups, especially Europeans populations, have been more heavily affected by SARS-CoV-2 than Asians populations. We believe that this is a very unique and important issue in infectious diseases. Such an ethnic difference was never experienced in the past, even in the influenza pandemic of 1918 that caused high rates of mortality or with SARS and MERS, which in many respects are thought to be very similar to COVID-19.”
So never before has a virus been found that attacks some ethnic groups at a greater and more intense tprate than others.
Very suspicious no? -
Would be helpful if you read the article— the contrasting case is not the US in their data, it’s Europe.

UK China population is very small— so being off that way could be chance. Could also be explained by demographic profile of UK Chinese population, which is older.

And you should read the article instead of your CCP script.
This evidence has to read in conjunction with other evidence about the virus, which point to a lab origin and which suggest in vitro genetic manipulation. Taken together it seems to me that the idea opthat this was a bioweapon in development which escaped the lab must be taken seriously.
Or it could be that the harmless precursors of SARS-Cov 2 were harmless because of the high
prevalence of this ACE variant in this population. Now it's less lethal for the same reason.
Same reason that malaria killed off a lot of the colonizers but only made the people in areas where it was endemic sick, with lower mortality rates.
It's called natural selection. Read science books instead of watching Fox news. -
What about behavior? People in this country don’t clean their hands neither euro guys
For this reason, we investigated the involvement of genetic factors associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection with a focus on angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-related genes, because ACE2 is a receptor for SARS-CoV-2. We found that the ACE1 II genotype frequency in a population was significantly negatively correlated with the number of SARS-CoV-2 cases. Similarly, the ACE1 II genotype was negatively correlated with the number of deaths due to SARS-CoV-2 infection. These data suggest that the ACE1 II genotype may influence the prevalence and clinical outcome of COVID-19 and serve as a predictive marker for COVID-19 risk and severity.

In some Asian countries it is close to 50%. Small percentage differences in resistance in populations can have big effects on rates of transmission. Recall that herd immunity with many diseases is achieved with only 60% of the population being resistant to the disease.
% of the gene in West is ~20%, in East ~40%, but the covid outcome differences are vast
Does this increase in %, mixed with the genes actual role, result in these huge differences?
Seems to me the gene would have to be hugely influential -
Britbros are cow like.
Europeans aren’t that obese either— and the article is based on European data, not US.
Or perhaps Asians aren't obese + follow social distancing norms instead of protesting mask-wearing like another group + don't tend to work essential worker jobs
-
Not much evidence that hand washing reduces transmission as fomite transmission seems to be rare.
Mask wearing might be a factor though, but many European countries mandate mask wearing, and have done so since the beginning of the pandemic (eg. The Capzech Republic).

Except this study contrasts Europe with Asia, not the US. And Europe on the whole has excellent public health systems.
This cannot be the entire story. Asian Americans died more from coronavirus relative to white Americans, after adjusting for population sizes. A better explanation is that the U.S. public health system is a disaster.

Your post is idiotic. Japan has had a pretty hands-off approach to the virus (not much testing, not massive lockdowns) yet deaths and disease there are much lower than they are in Europe. And the Philippines seems to avoided European scale outbreaks, even though its governance is incredibly incompetent.
And, if you read the article, yo7 will see that the point is not just fewer cases, but a lower death rate. Good public health policy can reduce the number of cases, but has much less effect on the death rate for cases that do occur.
The difference isn't receptor.
The difference is having an Asian leader coordinate the most complicated and difficult leadership task in the history of the modern world.
Look at Hawaii. Their rate of death and infection is far lower than the rest of America. Asian Americans in Hawaii have far lower death rates than Asian Americans in the mainland.
The difference is simple. Hawaii has an Asian American governor. Japan, Taiwan, Korea, they all have Asian leaders.
Asians are gifted at math, which is a proxy for problem solving. There is no harder problem to solve than COVID. -
Haha. Me: PhD economist who paid attention in science class and reads med journals. You: troll paid min wage to spread conspiracy theories. Please find your own forum.

They do regressions and establish a significant negative correlation between ACE gene type and disease prevalence. Read the article.
