It’s typically easier for places like this to hire non-American seasoned candidates. Especially if they’re single. Much better opportunity than most of Europe. PF and JS (non-forced) moved recently from UNSW. Others at UoM and UNSW are looking.

How hard is to move from America to Australia around the tenure stage? What pubs would you need?
OZ schools care a lot more about quantity of mid-range journals as it would be very unlikely to get hired externally at Associate level without 10-15+ pubs ranked as A/A* on the ABDC ranking. Some Unis would want a few top journal hits as well. Most OZ schools have a weird bean counting mentality where because of ABDC they don't necessarily value a JF that much more than a JBF, whereas at in real life we know that 1 JF would be more valued than 100 JF pubs.
This is true for schools outside of UNSW, Melb, Monash, and ANU. They would like to see a top publication (top-3 for Melb or UNSW, JFQA, MS for the others or top accounting). Best thing to do would be to not string them along, but also try to make a few trips out after you’ve started to be able to build connections and signal your interest.
