What is best for PhD admissions (finance or fin econ)?
SP is two years with MWG,Casella-Berger, Papa Wooldridge etc. Seems higher level and more PhD-oriented.
While Warwick only reaches Reny for micro.
BGSE is highest ranked but has more finance/programming etc. Though it leads to the same degree as the econ program, which has good placements.
I already have real analysis, research experience, good letters.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. SP names «Berkeley, Yale and Duke» as placements, however I found out that they were PhD in fields other than pure econ. I asked Warwick and they named Nottingham, Lancaster, Bonn, and Cambridge. BGSE has UBC, Rome, UC3M, UPF, Erasmus, Tinbergen...

This seems better, but remember that unless given year by year, such lists can be very uninformative. As an example, my undergrad school has very sh**ty placements for both its undergrad and master's programs. Think like they send one guy to US Top 40 once in every two years or so in average. But when you list the past placements without giving year information, it looks stellar with a list including Yale, Michigan, Princeton, Wisconsin and so on.
This is due to a) In the past their placements were better, b) Even for schools with sh**ty placements, placements look better when cumulated. To understand what I mean by b, think a hypothetical school that sends one student to a different top 10 and one student to a different top 20 once in every two years, and the rest of the class cannot get any placements. After 20 years, this school's alumni list would include every single top 20 university and it would look as if it has stellar placements when in fact everyone except one person per class go unplaced every year.
Okay, the above situation is mostly hypothetical but I just wanted to warn you that you should not take cumulative placements at face value. It's so easy to inflate your placement quality when you report them cumulatively rather than year by year. That being said, I am sure BSGE is a great place and I'm sure it has good placements for a European school. But be aware that probability the competition for these placement spots will be fierce.
