The title assistant for someone post PhD is a bit humiliating, but suitably in keeping with topsy turvy land academia, where the more qualified people, on the much higher salaries, are ordered about like kindergarten students by admins.
A PhD joining industry in a finance role is already 'associate' level.

No one outside of academia is ever going to be very impressed by you being a professor. It is what it is, can't enter this profession to impress peopleNot true. If anything, professor sounds more impressive outside of academia. Those familiar with academia know how much of a joke job it is.
