Post why no serious responses Because this is a question that would only be of interest to bright high school students. No book "profoundly changes your life". It excites the mind and gives food for thought. After one becomes more sophisticated and critical, this doesn't happen in the same was as it does to bright teenager. Why is this true? I think back when I was a teenager and the intellectual delight I got out of philosophy and reading. I can’t help but wonder if I’m dumber now, more jaded to the world, or if most concepts are broadly known to me. Not that I’m so knowledgeable, I’m just not being exposed to whole new areas of thought
