I have been hearing similar things. There seems to be a recent spike in suicides in Miami but of course the media isn’t reporting on it. Thank you for the information.
Brewing Marketing Scandal

I personally am glad that he got fired because he was a known villain. He was even featured in the respected periodical GOAT Villain weekly. That should have tipped some people off. Also one time I accidentally walked into a room where he was finishing up one of his lectures. I heard him say, "In conclusion, Kobe is my guy". This was back before Kobe was assassinated by the DNC and when Kobe was also known as a villain who had been featured in GOAT Villain weekly. I know villains have to sometimes stick together before they turn on each other, but this was shocking.

I see there's been a lot of hypothesizing and jokes about what really happened with Kumar. I actually have some legitimate information I can share.
I'll lead with the main issue. While Kumar was running the "Center for Excellence in Business and Customer Administration" at Georgia State University, he was using university resources, including university employees, to do work for his private business IMC International. He was caught doing it and resigned in the middle of an investigation which he knew would have resulted in him being fired.
To elaborate, he was forcing his employees to do this work for his private company, threatening them if they didn't comply. He also lent out other resources such as computers for his private business as well as to his family for their personal businesses.
There was all kind of other shady stuff he was doing as well, including installing cameras all over the office to spy on his employees, something that was against HR regulations.
He also was having the university employees do a lot of work for papers that he slapped his name on and didn't give them any credit for, although unfortunately from what I hear that's not an uncommon practice in this field.

One of Kumar's many illegitimate children here. Thought I'd pop in to confirm that yes, my father was behind the DNC's assassination of Kobe Bryant. VK is dead now (suicide in Miami), so I am free to speak the truth.
I am open to answering any further questions about my GOAT Villain daddy. Thank you all for dragging his sorry @$$.

He made 900K a year. Why did he need to tunnel resources to his business.?
He did not need money.
What I heard is that 2 junior faculty in marketing who were just tenured also left GSU in a hurry for lower-ranked schools. Why?

I guess employees are “phd students” and his private business is the private consulting side of his relationships. This is all very thin lines. Someone must have complained and he got into trouble .
Yes I can confirm he was reported to higher university personal by someone working for the university at the Center for Excellence in Business and Customer Administration whom Kumar was threatening and demanding that they do work for his IMC International business.

Is this any different elsewhere? I am threatened by my department chair in subtle ways - as an AP.

The difference is in the nature of the task and whether it is (explicitly or implicitly) part of the job. So a department chair asking faculty to serve on committees (which most faculty don't want) is completely fine.
