Question: if VK broke law, how could he still be employed in the US (SJU)?
He resigned and fled the country as soon as he realized he evidence of his wrongdoings was presented to GSu. The party who provided the evidence was one of the many parties who suffered loss from Kumar's actions, but his actions affected countless others at the university (funded by tax payers) and others in the marketing sphere. It's uncertain what GSU would have done if Kumar tried to stay and things progressed. But GSU settled with the party because they threatened to go to the media otherwise. There was already scrutiny and stories in the press wondering why an state employee had such an outrageously high salary. If the press then discovered all of the fraud and corruption going on at the direction of Kumar it would look incredibly bad for GSU so they are not reporting it. Unfortunately this is how people in power get away with this crap.

Surprised to see fans for XL's (NYU) work. The product2vec paper is an interesting paper if one had not read the Ruiz et al paper. Then there are wps that claim to optimise a promotion strategy by training an RL agent on observational data. This approach seems very problematic, wonder which firm let the authors implement this.
