   I won’t take the vax b/c
   - it’s long-term consequences are unknown
   - i am not in any risk category (I am young, no known health issues, I am fit and active)
   - I take covid seriously so I attempt to reduce my overall risk profile by eating well, staying in shape (lifting especially), and vitamin D/zinc maxxing
   - there are alternative treatments that are effective: ivermectin and nebulized budesonide, specifically
   I think people who are at risk would benefit from the jabs and I encourage my more infirm elders to get vaxxed. I disagree with, but ultimately respect, anyone who does not fall into these risk categories but chooses to get jabbed anyhow.
   I expect to land in either a labor or re-education camp no later than 2022 on account of such reactionary radicalism.

   Aren’t mRNA vaccine categorically different than all other modern vaccines though? Not sure this is the right baseline.

   It's great that you're not in a high-risk category. What about the externalities you generate by letting the virus circulate, possibly leading to evolutions that become vaccine-resistant?

   Are the vaccinated less likely to carry and spread the virus?

   Let me understand your argument: you are suggesting that the transmission and evolution of the virus would be exactly the same in a world with and without vaccines?

   i think one of the bigger issues is that so many of these institutions have seen their credibility shredded that some non-trivial measure of skepticism and hesitancy was inevitable

   everything has become politicized, and information streams have become so noisy and polluted, that many people will not believe any information coming out of the CDC or broadcast by the mainstream media or coming from epidemiologists/virologists

   it's a very bad equilibrium

   There is more data on the safety and efficacy of these vaccines than just about any other intervention in history, "waiting for more data" just means "there is no N such that I will change my mind".
   But fine, let's play this game: what is N such that you will change your mind?

   It’s not about N, it’s about T.

   And are you applying your large T criteria equally to all aspects in life? There are plenty of pesticides, fertilizers, household chemicals, on and on that would likely not meet your exacting standards. Do you live in isolation, away from all modern contaminants? Reiterating another point made by the responder, do you know the large T effects of the virus?

   Not really, they show your immune system something and say "have at it boys." That's typical. They way they do it is different but that part vanishes within a week. Again: the mRNA is completely gone from your body within a week.

    On some level, yes. Clearly, the ceaseless hysteria and demand for all to conform in action and viewpoint suggest there is a lot more to this. Smart, sincere people are kept busy debating particulars (today: vaccines and virus mutations) but miss the larger picture, and hysterical misanthropes are indulged.
