   both groups are wrong. california is horribly governed but it will never matter b/c people want to live in california b/c of it's natural beauty and temparate climate and as long as you have money you can largely avoid the bad aspects of california which means large companies and their boards/large shareholders/c suite will never have any incentive to leave.

   After this year's fire season, you will walk this opinion back with 65% certainty. The yearly fires will only increasingly worsen until a large portion of the state is uninhabitable.

   im born in raised in socal and have lived most of life in ca, there are fires every year they are a part of the natural chaparal ecosystem taht stretches across most of state to some degree or another except for maybe top 3rd. air quality was horrible in bay a year or 2 ago with fires very close, sorry but its not going to cause companies to leave.

    In a society with high inequality that’s the fair distribution. India like CA has people that are talented and people that are not. Hence why in SF you can see drugged out heroin addicts and a tech billionaire in the same spots. Generally speaking Pareto distributions like these mean the place is diverse and functioning well at equilibrium

    My grandfather worked in Venezuela in the 1950s and thought it was heaven on earth. So there are limits to how much and how hard you can push the sh*tty-governance button before things start to fall apart.

    It is an unfortunate consequence of biology that select few people and groups are responsible for the vast output of productivity. But societies which roughly mirror the equilibrium distributions(eg India and CA) generally mean the populations are working together as intended. Hobos shitting wherever is not vital to the democracy but rather indicative that the lower functioning members of society are not being propped up by welfare policies, which is a good thing for a capitalistic entity
