   If you're going to industry, absolutely. It's harder if you want to stay in Academia but even then you can get away with it if you're going to a much more prestigious University

   Nothing can force you to accept the offer. The only risk is to reputation, and that depends on the specifics of the situation (e.g., if it was an exploding offer, etc.)

   If you're going to industry, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

   I did. No regrets it was better for me in the long run. There is probably a department’s worth of people who either hate or are annoyed at me. But it’s a big profession.
