   Every 5 year old should be evaluated without exception. Ideally the test would be with shapes and pattern recognition that is not culturally determined or where the rich can't get an advantage.

   130+ children should be partly segregated, allowed to attend normal classes with acceleration and additional support.

   145+ children should be completely segregated, socializing with their equals, and only taught by teachers at the same level.

   These teachers ought to have special training and six figure salaries in light of the national interest of creating the next generation of experts and out of the box thinkers.

   No normie should be allowed to harm these national treasures, whether it be a school administrator, ordinary teacher, or slack-jawed yokel age mate.

   this sounds like norway, but they don’t have enough people for this to scale. china and india have the people but not the resources per capita

   I don’t agree with all the details of what you propose, but In agree with the general sentiment.

   There’s an enormous range of cognitive ability, and children should be taught at an individually appropriate level.

   Appropriate education is much more important for high-ability students than for others. For below-average students, I’m not sure that their education makes much difference, assuming that they’re taught basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, and, to the extent possible, properly socialized to behave responsibly.

   Unfortunately, education in America is directed by lunatics, morons, and grifters who say that differences in cognitive ability should be ignored and that, to the extent such differences exist, education should focus on the least able students.

   For example, the goal of Stanford professor Jo Boaler’s “California Math Framework” is to prevent smart students from getting ahead of the idiots.

   what this leads to in practice is that the canada/usa mathcamp alumni (rich kids whose parents could send them to out of state math camps) mog the other math majors gradewise at princeton

   Yes, if public schools aren’t serious about teaching math, some parents will see to it that their kids learn math elsewhere.

   Smart students whose parents don’t do that will be screwed.

   This is basically the heart of it, imo. It's not so much that they need to move at the appropriate speed--the gifted, for better or worse, operate on their own timetable regardless--but because being surrounded by future jocks can be deleterious, mentally, emotionally, and often physically, for the intelligent.

    Blogger Education Realist says there’s not much evidence that teachers with higher test scores get better results.

    My guess is that smart teachers make a difference with smart students, but that dumb teachers do OK with dumb students. Like I said before, I don’t think anything beyond the basics matters much for below-average students.

    I have extremely smart kids. They had a brilliant gifted-and-talented teacher for a couple of years in elementary school, and that was great for them. They were challenged in those years, whereas otherwise they were just coasting.

    Black students supposedly benefit from black teachers. My guess is that they have a lot less hostility toward black teachers than toward white teachers.
