Please discuss China job market rumors (of this year and the years to come) under this thread. If we stick to one thread, more people might want to share information.
Quite often people start new posts about minor topics, but only attracted unnecessary attention. One specific feature of this forum is that every reply pumps a post from a sub-forum to the front page, and a title which is not specific enough usually attracts the attention of the others who think it is of general interest.
We can start with sharing the "tenure" requirement info. Different schools have different journal lists and the requirements also vary a lot. For some schools, the publication requirements are almost sufficient for "tenure", while for others might not be the case.
Most of the lists rank the same five journals at the top tier, and then have A, B, C tiers. Most of the lists are not made public.
Fudan: 25 A (more precisely, 10A+15A-) and 42B journals on the list. Requires 1A+2B in 6 years.
SUFE: 14 A and 41 B on list (the list is online). Requires 2A +2B? in 6 years. Before this year, the requirement was 1A+2B.
SJTU: list unknown, should be short. Requires 2A+ ? in 8 years.
THU: 26 A on list. Requires 3A+ ? in 9 years.
Others: SWUFE, PKU GSM, WHU, ZJU, NJU, Lingnan...
Please correct and add new.
The total number of Chinese students is around 400? Maybe around 100 return to China. That doesn't sound like a big project. The point is, in the short-run, to syndicate the profiles of students each university hired, and thus give future candidates some reference. The long term, it makes people easier to track the flow of those Haigui. How do you guys think?
You mean listing all returned Phds? Since the total number might be around 400 (from a naive estimate), it seems to be a huge project. And, what's the point of doing that?
Putting all returnees' personal info on a public forum and track their flow might not be exactly a good idea. It would be better if you ask/discuss about specific ones of interest. Plus, if you're interested in which schools hired whom, the easiest way is still to look at their faculty lists.
For the total number, note that the SOE at SUFE and RIEM at SWUFE each has recruited 50-60 phds. Together with returnees at other schools of this two universities, they may make a total around 150. Now you can start counting other universities.

PKU GSM econ department: 1A 2B. But it's only the very minimum to even submit a case. If that's all you got, you are not likely to get it.
