What do you do when your coauthor is obsessed with minor points when you’ve already passed the deadline? We’re supposed to send a paper to a conference discussant by 12/6. Asked for a week extension, but still haven’t finished. We have results but this lunatic wouldn’t proceed unless he/she’s happy with a table that could go into appendix. The coauthor says he/she’ll finish their part, which never happens. Instead, this lunatic is wasting time changing variable names in my table, which is created based upon agreement!!! We almost had a fight but I don’t this this person is going to change. (To be fair, this person contributed quite a bit to the paper, but didn’t know had this kind of problem with a deadline.)
At the time of conference submission, it was my solo paper so I feel like my reputation is at risk. What would you do? Is it not a big deal to be late for this kind of deadline? Btw, the conference itself is still about 3 weeks away.
