Most high i/q coders I know arent creative at all. They are good at pattern recognition which makes extremely good at cookie cutter coding and sticking to the firm's coding practices. Once you remove these people from their natural environment, where the environment is random, they cant cope.

In the second case it’s mostly IQ that produces good heuristics (e.g., forming analogies and calibrating them against historical data), and good strategies (forming a different skill set from the majority), plus luck.
No independent quality of creativity, that can magically generate 'new' objects from total scratch. You just have IQ that produces good heuristics. You can't come up with a test for creativity that isn't just acquired skill: for example, improvising classical music or rap music is just an acquired skill, to generate better combinations. It's just a skill, and even computers can compose classical music.

No, it's not bs. Every society from Neanderthals to the present has assigned resources to creative types like artists, musicians, and story tellers. Priests might also be included. Creativity and the arts bind societies together and help them to be more productive.

Creativity is BS because the only scientific measure of intelligence is IQ. That's it. 'Creativity' is just something that low-IQ, college dropouts talk about to make themselves feel better about dropping out of high school.
