A pundit in my country complained our star players didn't talk about politics. They did. Almost all of them are conservative. So, pundit complained they were speaking about their conservative politics. -
FIFA, soccer, and professional sports in general, are about making money, not about justice, unity, "liberté, égalité, fraternité", truth, good, or beauty, or anything else other than maximizing profits. And countries like China, India, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf monarchies like Qatar, which are extremely socially conservative, are loaded with money. Like one Mexican President infamously said: Nadie aguanta un cañonazo de cincuenta mil pesos.

"Free speech" is a liberal POLITICAL concept and a liberal POLICY. Liberalism, of course, is a POLITICAL ideology, i.e. John Rawl's POLITICAL Liberalism.
