I feel bad for HS, ED, and NR
Having them all hired at once like this must really cheapen the moment. It's clear they are being hired not for being great economists but for being people researching the "hot topic" issue du jour

One of EDs top 5s is one of the most blatant examples of nepotism I've ever seen in publishing. MB wrote the same paper years prior and published in a field journal. ED gets her advisor to put it in QJE. We all know LK knew about the MB paper.
At the top we do not bean count and we look for contributions. Name one contribution either has had.

Suppose w*men are 1/3 of the profession and ability and publications are uniformly distributed. What is the likelihood that 3/3 hires will be women? 3%. So either w*men are massively better than m*en in publishing or admin dictated that pandemic hires need to be diverse, you know because pandemic and kids put a lot of pressure on w*men.
