   I am an ABC and know some amount of Japanese-Americans.

   The interesting thing is that unlike ABCs and Indian-Americans, they seem to never go into tech/coding? All of the ones I know who are academically good do stuff like traditional engineering or hard sciences.

    They might view their ancestral homeland as good in electronics and cars. So they may take more towards engineering and hard sciences.

    some of mine were H1b PhD parent migrants or doctor migrants who then attended HYPSM. These all uniformly did hard sciences or math, none coding
