Agree with d5c9. 9f45 you are very noble to have such a view, but we should strongly discourage professors from taking ideas without giving proper credit. It is very sad that some professors prey on inexperience students to improve their publication record.
I think this is far, far too generous of you. If they were your ideas, and you know that others took your ideas and wrote them up well, then sure they deserve co-authorship, but equally so do you.
This is true.
I am LRM and even while writing my dissertaion i had few good ideas. I barely published a paper from these ideas, because technically i was weak to develop them in a form of well done paper. Neither my advisor did because it was kind of outside of his expertise, but other people who i/we shared thoughts did publish them.
But again, we should not look into this like stealing , but as a collective effort to increase our knowledge
For a LRM it makes no sense, since they can't get the paper published regardless of the idea. For a HRM who lacks inspiration, it could be worthwhile.
