No one ever talks about race in my country. It's considered weird even just the usage of the words 'race' or 'white' for humans. The concept of race is typically used for dogs. At most, there is some political discussion about immigration and integration of ethnic minorities, where the concept of race is tangentially touched, but always framed as something about cultural background and never really about race.
Here on EJMR I see people mentioning race *continuously* and well beyond political discussions on affirmative action or identity politics. For instance, posters often don't talk about women, but *white* women. Reference to being *Asian* is used continuosly in replies, mostly in a negative way (something also
bit surprisingg to me).
Apart from what is wrong or right, what is useful or misleading, I was just wondering if this general approach (i.e. people using race as a critical factor to evaluate stuff) is somehow normal in the US or it's mostly specific to EJMR.
