Duke dude has had enough of DEI bullsh: “Try me, I am tenured”

Pretty sure not completing mandatory training is enough to fire a tenured professor. In this case, the solution is pretty obvious: wait a couple of years for him to retire, do not grant him Emeritus status or anything of the sort, and let each party go their own way.

Cullen's research was instrumental in developing drugs that were used in the fight against HIV. The guy has about 65,000 cites. To deny him Emeritus status for refusing to take some BS "equity and inclusion" workshop would be absurd.

Apparently he hasn't heard about what happened at Princeton, where the university violated standard due process requirements by engaging in double jeopardy to force a tenured professor out. (Judges are very strict about requiring due process whenever an institution engages in internal "trials" and "judgements". A lawsuit against Princeton will have a very high chance of succeeding.)

He much probably won't be doing any new contributions as Emeritus, and clearly has a beef with current faculty and admin. No reason for keeping a toxic person around
