Your parents prepared you for an elite education... Try for just a second to understand a working class kid’s upbringing and you will see how different your situation is.
I mean I understand, but at the same time, you don't have parents actively trying to sabotage you while studying or taking an exam.

If the applications have a spot to "explain any COVID related situations that may have affected your grades" then you could mention living back at home where there were many distractions. But I would avoid putting blame on others, even if that's the truth.

This f-ing guy. Dude many of us come from families that were dysfunctional AND completely oblivious about what higher ed even is. I’m a first gen student and my dad still thinks I’m wasting my time applying for PhDs. My parents have always come in the way of me trying to succeed. Be grateful that you were exposed to higher ed and had someone to look up to while you were building your career path

So yeah I come from pretty f**ked up family. Dad is an economist but he's a salty lemon who doesn't really want me to succeed (I do kinda want to co-author with him in the future to gift him a nice field pub or something just bc he's my dad tho). Mom is crazy rich Asian but also is crazy as a person.
Obviously this environment isn't really conducive for academic pursuits and mental health. Got diagnosed with depression/ADHD during the COVID semester. On top I got forced to go home by my school so I was studying to do well in the midst of a dysfunctional time and dysfunctional family. I did initially get approval to stay at my school but parents figuring that the school would reimburse room and board, forced me to come down unless I wanted to pay school with 100% loans (they've constantly held my education hostage for demands) the next semesters.
Unfortunately, mom ended up actually interfering with my studying. She wanted me to help my brother cheat in the AP/IB exams for his school. I refused, saying that his exams are his job. My mom interpreted that as me "actively trying to ruin my brother's life" so she proceeded to make my study time a living hell from that time on and made me botch my exams up (disturbed me during a final, etc.). Her justification was that I'm already at a good college (I go to a HRM) so I can just get a decent job with my college name but because I prevented my brother from going to HRM, I deserve to pay the price with a f**ked up semester.
Ive always had problems with my parents, but I've been Afraid to tell anyone bc I don't want to harm my parents jobs or reputation. I'm also hesitant as I don't want people taking this in the wrong way.
I'm leaning towards taking the L and hiding this s**tty situation, but idk what you guys think about it

This has to be a troll post. There are people with REAL difficulties you know - homelessness, sexually abusive parents/family members, orphans, etc. I used to teach in Detroit, and every one of my students had a story way harsher than yours, and some of them still managed to not put blame on others and instead focused on what was important to them. grow up.
