I got accepted to EFA. I am in Asia, and looking at some of the comments regarding the quality of this conference I am wondering if travelling 24*2 hours is worth it.
EFA Decisions

For networking, yes. Very little snobbiness at EasternFA so lots of good opportunities to meet new colleagues. I met a co-author there a few years ago for the first time and and we have several papers now. For leisure, sure. It's Miami after all. For improving your CV, no, unless you have very few conference presentations.

I didn't until Jan or Feb. I was just told I was on the waitlist on 12/8, and acceptances went out 12/7.
How do they find out drop offs before registration?
Did not receive anything yet...
I was a day late last year. It was a waitlist paper. "flagged as a quality paper but left off due to room." My paper eventually made the program after enough papers dropped off.

Man it really isn’t that clubby at all. It’s not WFA. If you have a decent ppr you have a chance.
Because not everyone is a snobby HRM who is part of the club.
EFA = European Finance Association. Not sure why anyone would consider sending a paper to Eastern Finance Association.

bump. does anyone know the acceptance rate at eastern finance association conference? my paper is wierd so I'm nervous
As a reviewer for a conf like EaFA I prefer seeing weird papers instead of the typical paper in my pile which is just a permutation of an existing literature in a slightly different context ("does executive compensation affect SEO returns?" or "does analyst tone affect earnings informativeness?"). The big problem with weird I guess is that weird in EaFA doesn't necessarily mean novel, it can just as well mean non-sensical.
