I believe if ER hadn't won the punitive damages claim, she would have been on the hook for the $1.559 million in attorney's fees!!!! I believe winning the punitive damages claim allowed her to be reimbursed for attorney's fees because punitive damages are to punish the opposing party for their bad behavior and part of that punishment means they are on the hook for the plaintiff's attorneys fees.

You also cannot avoid bumping into female colleagues and students in the hallway. If you look at them directly in the eyes it's harrassment. If you avoid them, they will notice and tweet about "that guy in my department who runs away upon seeing females".

The current award is for lawyer fees. She doesn't get to keep this. The decision says that her lawyers were providing services on a contingency fee basis. They get paid from this award.

The jury didn’t find she was harassed. The only count out of 22 she won was on B’s retaliation against her for accusing him of sexual harassment. For that, she was awarded 250+500K. I’m no lawyer but I assume she gets to keep this. The awards for lawyer fees in the most recent decision go to lawyers. So yes, the lawyers win big. She wins at most 750K. Correct me if I’m wrong.
