The 'let it rip' side ended up winning after all, but only after we spent trillions on lockdowns and restrictions trying to do zero covid.

Covid was always going to infect everyone eventually.
The reason for lockdowns was to flatten the curve.
Mag/at/rds still don't understand, sad.
Tell me, was the curve in fact flatten or the strain just run it's course being currently replaced by a highly transmissible one with just a flu symptoms?

Educate yourself, mag/tar/d
Face masks, social distancing etc were always meant to reduce the strain on the hospital system. And buy us time for vaccine development. Now we have a vaccine, and everyone on the upper half of the Bell curve is fully vaxed. Time to let it rip.

Covid hospitalizations are at similar levels as last year (without the vaccine):
Decreases in reported deaths appear to be caused by changes in death reporting standards (e.g. deaths of vaccinated people who test positive are not counted as covid deaths).

And with virulence the new variants, disease prevalence is many multiples of last year. The lower rate of hospitalizations due to vaccinations and less severe omicron.
The curve is still being flattened. If we did nothing, the peak would be on the moon.Sweden is the counterfactual (hospitals doing just fine for two years).
Taiwan is an even better counterfactual -- they've had no required lockdowns, and now they have zero cases of COVID (even with omicron). There was no real strain on their public healthcare at all.
The important difference however of both Sweden & Taiwan, in comparison to the USA, is that those other countries aren't filled with low-IQ ret0rded red/n/e/cks. Even without mandated restrictions the Swedes and Taiwanese just simply engaged in self-imposed health measures (e.g. masks, social distancing, work from home, etc.). So if you have a citizenry like exists in the USA, you can't really follow the policies of these countries that have superior populations.
