^ You're saying: the elasticity of market value (outside Fed and academia) of a PhD economist in the basket of PhD economist considered by the Fed, holding IQ, quantitative skills, and other skills (theory presumably? knowledge of databases? knowledge of how to write pedagogically?) fixed is zero. I did not say PhD economist, I said "graduate macro" (because that's who gets hired by Fed according to the previous posts in this thread).I do recognize economists have market value otherwise.
I even recognize that macroeconomists have market value. But I claimed that their value is driven by confounders and not their knowledge of graduate macro, so the leftover effect of graduate macro is zero. As far as I know, no one outside the bubble values those skills.
I'm open for corrections on that particular point.
