With respect to politics threads everything is about tone. I do not spend more than 10 seconds looking at thread and will delete simply based on title and first few posts. If the first few posts look like someone its written by someone who has sat through a graduate economics course it is deleted. The point of deletion is to prevent this place for being a venue for those who do not know what hotelling's lemma. It is not a left/right thing. I do not care and do not spend my spare time reading and mulling every post.
Too many conservative threads are started "Libs***" or look at how dumb xyz point of view. If you want to discuss a topic do it in a fashion that makes you look like you have at least a masters degree in our discipline not like your angry and foaming at mouth or copying pasting fox news headlines.
You sound absolutely unhinged. I have started some of these threads with jokes about "libs**ts" and no economic content and I can absolutely assure you that I have a doctoral education in this discipline and have contributed to a larger amount of high quality academic-econ advice than probably the vast majority of this board. There is no way you can assess that on the basis of random things we talk to each other about in selective threads. I'm not saying that there isn't a possibility that people without econ degrees are posting here, but evaluating that on the basis of POLITICS posts is ridiculous. Furthermore, there are plenty of econ discussions where it's clear that a vast majority of the participants are clueless undergrads, or even non-econ students. Yet few of those are ever deleted.
To be plain, it's absolutely clear to me that some users that became mods in 2015 are highly sensitive about political issues and are trying to disguise their rationale - perhaps even to themselves - as some kind of "econ vs non-econ" thing. It's not. Economists are a discipline where you are MOST likely to find people with some strong antipathy towards left-wing politics, despite being center-left themselves. This is a unique feature of our discipline, and you're modding it out by pretending it comes from lawtards who are generally the most PC people on the planet.
