47a3 here: No, I'm not in Mexico, nor in Peru, I'm in Argentina, thanks. And what I said is definitely true.
C'mon let's be real. If you are teaching economics, then your students are gonna be economists (education here is not as in the US, you know what you define your career since you enter college). So they are not gonna be poor by any means, they'll probably end up in the private sector making lots of money, more than mere college professors, so they don't need you to rise up the social ladder.
Cut the bullshit. It is ok to troll, but you are trying too hard.
I am in South America and this dude is lying. Professors are relatively poor compared to their private business counterparts (like in the rest of the world), and no woman would hook up with one to raise her social status.
Sorry dude but you must be in some shithole in Peru or Mexico if that is your case. Junior professors over here are not millionaire (some are) but we make good money thanks to some consultancy on the side. We make more than most junior guys in the financial sector so given that most female students will never make as much as we do, we are a ladder to some degree of upward mobility.
b1bd: Yes, role and title probably play a role. A major one. But who cares? Women are looking for status, come it from beauty, wealth, power or knowledge.
