Looks like the rumors were true.
This seems like a zealous over-reach due to the me-too movement. Note to self: this means discussing anybody's personal life (even about play putt putt gold on a date) could make national story if you have any level of success.
There's been so much made of gender differences in teaching. What about workplace harassment. If a women had asked them about a date and laughed about putt putt golf, I bet that wouldn't be viewed as harassment.

Do you really think this is about comments he made regarding putt-putt?
It looks like this could become a problem for the school as well since one of the accusers is claiming the school retaliated against them after filing the complaint: "their client first reported Fryer’s behavior to Harvard officials roughly a year ago and that “she was retaliated against for seeking relief.”"
"This account of events is based on interviews with 47 individuals, at least 23 of whom are current or former EdLabs employees. Many interviewed spoke only on the condition of anonymity to describe confidential Title IX proceedings or because they said they feared retaliation from Fryer." - Too bad those who are most outspoken on the issue of sexual harassment are also opposed to anonymous forums.
I doubt it was about putt putt golf. The article describes egregious verbal sexual harassment. To me that sounds like the following example:
- Employees were calling out a woman woman who gave a blowjob to a guy on their fitst date
- RF walks in and joins in the surprise statement as “a part of the gang.”
- RF subsequent to that event has to criticize the woman’s work, and then becomes a target
Moral of the story: Be careful when becoming “friends” with your employees.
I am not RF, and am just speculating here because it sounds more serious than putt putt.
Or some woman is trying to capitalize on the “guilty until proven innocent” sh*tshow called the #metoo movement.

Read the whole thing. Not one example/detail of the "egregious" acts by Fryer. Seems like all they could find is that there's an investigation and nothing more. They talked to "47 individuals, at least 23 of whom are current or former EdLabs employees" and they couldn't find one example. Maybe is because there's none.
It looks like none of the people involved wanted to go into details. The people who have lawyered up are presumably the ones with the most interesting stuff to say, but their lawyers aren't going to let them speak about the investigation.
I'm reserving judgement until more facts come out, but this looks like it will be a long and ugly legal battle.

Do you really think they would have made such a big deal about it if it were about putt putt?
I have to agree. The article reads empty. What exactly was the allegation? "putt putt golf?" That's all? This case isn't going anywhere.
Wow. I am not a fan of RF and even wanted to revel in some schadenfreude, but it sounds lkke they have nothing on him.
I am a supporter of the Me Too movement and am not fan of Fryer's research and don't understand why he was given the JBC, but these complainants are actually doing harm to the movement. I read the entire article looking for what Fryer exactly did wrong. The banter described in the article does not seem to be sexist at all. If the article says anything, it is that there is a lot of evidence of Fryer not being sexist. If you're going to print a story with these allegations, then tell us what the allegations are. The Crimson staff SHERA S. AVI-YONAH and ANGELA N. FU are irresponsible reporters. I hope they never become journalists. This Crimson article amounts to libel without any substance or details of the actual allegations. I feel sorry for Fryer.
