   Except you guys (American b-lack ppl) do poor job academically all across the board: from day care to grad school, regardless of your family income, upbringing, etc.

   Here’s the thing, and I want to make this plain. I know I’m better than you. I know my SAT was higher. I know my grades were higher. I know my GMAT/ GRE was higher. I know I if we were in the same classes I would have crushed you. I know this BECAUSE I am Black in these “meritocratic” spaces and to get in and succeed I had to be better than my white and Asian counterparts. This is the case for most Black Americans in these spaces. This is why I think these things are so funny. You’re convinced Black people are inferior, I’m convinced that we have to overcome racism, and do that we have to be more talented than you can imagine. But if it makes you feel better to believe in bigoted ideas, I suggest you keep them to yourself, lest you wind up like this adjunct- fired.

   Your SAT might be higher than an Asian or white who went to a community college. My GPA was 3.94, SAT was 2340, and was the president of two clubs, and had a number of extracurricular awards. I ended up at Cornell just like a black friend whose GPA was below 3.7, SAT below 2200, and barely had any extracurriculars. He had 1 AP course while I had 8.

   Harvard openly talks about having an Africa problem. Nigerian student association is the biggest club in campus. The thing is, they thought they could solve their superficial ethnic diversity problems while also recruiting the same token strivers they got from Taft or Dalton (seriously, if you are an African American at Harvard the probability you went to a prep school in New England is I think 66%, and 90% private overall) by dipping into the African community. The problem is first gen immigrant kids tend to be the kind of diversity they don’t want- social conservative fish out of water.

   Are you talking about which black people? The black people I know from Africa are NOT babysat. We work real hard to get into PhDs and get something out of our lives. There is zero babysitting anywhere in the world. I know because I passed through the process and now I am into admissions and mentorship for black people throughout Africa and my highly talented students with, yes, great profiles way ahead of many of the privileged Americans, they are not definitely not being babysat.

   You poor guy. You don't understand that there are no black people in Africa. They don't count. They are honorary whites, like Asians. For affirmative actions, you need real blacks, preferably light-complexioned and strong Democrats, the kind with naturally straight hair. That's why the term "underrepresented minorities" is starting to replace "minority": it's important to keep out the foreign competition from the West Indies and Africa. Otherwise, they'd fill up all the race quotas.

   If you want a group to not do poorly, don't have lower admissions standards. It's absurd to think that the problem is with the person who notices.

   In Europe a diversity candidate is defined by exclusion: if they are not white and male, then they are a diversity candidate and they will benefit from diversity policies and quotas in academia and industry. I have big doubts it's any different in the US.

   Only citizens with loud political lobbies are diverse.

   Are you the first literate person in your family from Pakistan? Not diverse.
   Are you an Moldavian American? Not diverse.
   Are you a Mexican? Not diverse at all.
   Are you an American bl.ck person? Mmm, very diverse.
