I doubt I’ll ever be okay with what I saw happen last month. Seeing list and Dellavegna make their obligatory condemnations of Houser made me want to absolutely puke. They had no information, and condemned the guy ON TWITTER. You know why? They are kissing the ring. They don’t want Jen going after them.
It’s insane to watch SO MANY of the people you look up to disappoint you so quickly the way they did on Twitter. You guys on here constantly posting abt pubs and schools — you better be careful bc that’s the very mindset of the people I saw tuck tail on Twitter.

John List, closely connected and Anya Samek, who used to visit UCSD often and now works at UCSD. The most surprising thing to me is that I've witnessed myself that Alex and Anya behaved very friendly towards Dan in the last many years. I think John is a co-author of Dan. I always thought they are friends. Were they just acting? What's going on with the UCSD group? Have to give credit to Gary. He didn't jump onto this metoo thing like other UCSD crowd. He seems to support due process.

List knows Dan well. Not only from Arizona, but they both were acquainted from high school days.

Many UCSD spring school participants were privately warned about DH and the incident was the reason why DH was never invited back as a spring school speaker ever since then.

Tons of people knew about the spring school incident. I think most of these people felt that DH not being invited again was fair punishment so they left it at that. The problem was that when it came up publicly the "punishment" didn't seem right anymore.

The fact that so many people knew and were okay with it just speaks to the magnitude of the problem in the profession.

The more closely you knew DH the more easily you would believe the allegations. That's why John did not need lots of convincing.

I am not writing to defend Dan Houser. There seem to be too many accusations. I am also not writing to undermine the #metoo in Econ movement; it is clearly long overdue.
I am writing to expose the HYPOCRISY of Georgia Michailidou before she destroys the credibility of the #metoo in econ movement.
I have repeatedly seen how overtly flirtatious she is with senior male economists in conferences and workshops. I have also heard other people discuss this. There seems to be a belief that she does this systematically to advance her career. I will share two observations that I witnessed before stating some facts that everyone can verify.
In 2015, the same year GM accuses Dan Houser groped her, when she was still a PhD student, I saw her seduce a senior male economist in a conference. She succeeded. This is all easy to verify with some modest detective work online. Much more on that below. I also saw her try to seduce another senior male economist a few years later (yes, while she was with senior male economist #1). Her behavior was totally over the top. I was NOT the only one who witnessed that. I wish I could write more but I do not wish to provide any identifying hints. Perhaps the senior male economist himself would like to speak up? You know who you are!
Let’s look now at some FACTS about GM that are public information and which point to a repeatedly OPPORTUNISTIC behavior by her.
(i) GM has three publications in economics journals; not a great record for someone who got her PhD 5 years ago, started as a postdoc (ie no teaching/admin) and is working in experimental economics. Interestingly, two of those are in JEBO from the time Houser was an editor-in-chief. WHY WOULD GM SUBMIT AT THE JOURNAL OF HER HARASSER?! (JEBO at the time had two editors in chief so the chance that DH would handle her papers was not trivial! Given the research of the other editor in chief, DH would almost certainly handle them. (Perhaps JEBO could open the files to know if he indeed handled any of these papers?)
(ii) GM started a position as a Researcher in Sep 2017 in a frankly unknown school in France, but she abandoned it 3 months later to join NYU Abu Dhabi as a postdoc. What happened there? Why accept a job and drop it 3 months later? All this happened when she hooked up for good with the senior male professor mentioned above (the one that I saw her seduce in 2015 and who is identified in another thread in this forum as Ernesto R). This can also easily be verified with modest detective work online. SO GM SEDUCED ER IN A CONFERENCE THE SAME YEAR THAT DH SUPPOSEDLY GROPED HER (again, Im not defending DH), AND GOT TOGETHER WITH ER FOR GOOD WHEN HER JOB MARKET TANKED.
(iii) Her husband, Ernesto Reuben is an Associate Editor in JEBO! Why serve as Associate to the Editor who harassed your wife? Or did she make all this up?
(iv) Why does GM pretend not to know Ernesto R on Twitter? Is she afraid of people knowing that she is with a senior male economist who works in her department? But that doesn’t stop her from posting occasionally in favor of him such as when she gave a “big shout out” to ER for how nice he is! What else is fake with GM?
Enough is enough indeed! The #metoo movement in econ does not need two-faced, double-standard individuals like Georgia Michailidou who will use every possible method, including Twitter, to advance their careers. How many people knew GM before her allegations against DH on Twitter?
Why do I remain anonymous? Because her husband, Ernesto Reuben, is a senior male economist with some power. (Let alone that Twitter really ticked me off the last few days, pun intended). But I do have more information on this case and I will come back.

You claim you know the incident was the reason why DH was never invited back. Are you one of the organizers? Otherwise, you would’t know. Assuming you are, how do you know many spring school participants were privately warned ? Did you know something about your invited speaker and warned them ? No email and no evidence I guess. I’ve been to Spring school and I wasn’t aware of the warning. The alleged incident happened at the end of the the spring school. How could you have warned the participants ? Do you see how ridiculous this is ?

I’m not surprised if GM went around to spread the rumour. At the end of the day, it’s all just gossip. No facts at all. It’s all based on GM’s words. No one saw anything. Not sure about the punishment part. How do we know GM was telling the truth? Believing all women is BS.
The fact that organizers knew about the incident and didn’t do a real investigation is strange. If the incident was reported right away, it should be easy to find witnesses for a public event. Why hasn’t anything happened ?
I know people who have been wondering why GM did what she did. Well, I have no idea. I know in some cases, women twist things around to make them look
better. I’m wondering if GM behaved badly at the spring school and tried to turn things around with social media. Girls do it often. I’m going to find out.
