A classic for sure...
^Krahnen, initially. Not sure what profile they will look for in the beginning. Likely people with proven publication potential first and perhaps 1-2 junior Profs.
I think they will try to hire some "stars" in the coming JM. At least for all the AP positions, and there will be a good number of those.
But can they even offer competitive salaried to hire „stars“ with a german contract???

^ the discussion was about juniors. The only problem about RR is that people doubt he'd come (and stay). Which is understandable given his history. That said, I believe that he'd really love to come back. I think he did make ot really clear in every public statement.
Ergo => bring back RR! One of the best German macroeconomists (who would work in Germany)
Which Uni has the better Master program, Frankfurt (IEEP) or Mannheim (Economics)? For what? PhD?
Unless you want to go to the GSEFM PhD, Manheim is better.
Possibly PhD if grades are good enough, maybe Industry or Central Bank.
Frankfurt would be an easier program, I'd imagine

IEEP is a program with lots of freedom to pick your own courses. Some courses are easy with very good grades, and people who pick them end up with the graduation grade of 1,1-1,3. Some are extremely interesting, but also challenging, so the grades end up slightly worse.
Don´t know how much freedom you have in Mannheim, but for PhD outside Germany that program is seen as marginally better.

I like him better on that high horse he is sitting on, looking down on german academia. Always entertaining. So, don't bring him back.

There's no "sitting on a high horse" regarding the things that matter, i.e. research quality. With respect to other stuff, like hiring practices it's just legitimate criticism of the structure of German academia which I think most people inside academia share and no "I am better than you".

Hi RR
^ I think he did make ot really clear in every public statement.Cheap talk. RR wont come back (or wont stay).
Why does he bother to apply to all those places then? Just for fun?
Not RR but I agree. Lots of people on here "complain" that he applies everywhere. But then lots of people complain that it's not credible. How can this go together? He basically said on Twitter that he would love to come back. What is there to doubt? What other incentives could he have?
