German academia does not hire RR, nough said. Instead look at the new hires in Mainz, Saarbruecken or whereever
Who did they hire? Better than RR?
And you get attention by applying frivolously to places where you wouldn’t go? I don’t get it.
^ I think he did make ot really clear in every public statement.
Cheap talk. RR wont come back (or wont stay).
Why does he bother to apply to all those places then? Just for fun?
He's a classic attention seeker, nothing else.
I agree that RR is a good but not overwhelmingly so researcher. Still, there are not that many macroeconomists better than him in DACH right now (there are a few), although there are many better DACH macroeconomists in the US and elsewhere which seem ungeattble, so that most places would improve quite a bit by hiring him. Most importantly, he seemed to have made it clear that he only comes with his wife. She is the much bigger fish. Attracting a tenured person from Michigan should be a big deal for any German department (not even speaking of the women effect).
Interesting... hope that hiring committees are aware of such things, but I am afraid not.
Here's another fun fact: Pia Pinger was initially not on the paper and got added only recently. There was a full, almost identical paper version out as a discussion paper in several series already in 2014/2015/2016 but I guess then they realized at Bonn that her tenure clock is expiring and miraculously "added" her as a fifth author. Sharing is caring, I guess. This is how you get tenure nowadays...

Encountered him in a Meeting of one of the Ausschüsse of the Verein. He is real but a complete nutcase
Mal was ganz anderes: is Egmont Kakarot-Handtke a real person? Us there anyone in Stuttgart who knows if he was ever really there, i.e. if he existed in the first place. If not Uni Stuttgart should contact researchgate regarding that.
