Do you guys really talk about FHs here.

You may not hear anything for a year...
I recently gave a Job Talk in Germany. They said I should hear back within the next weeks but haven’t heard anything since then. I guess I‘m out but is this normal?
Sounds like you are out. They would usually let you know whether you are on the list or not.

For sure, that’s the only reason some people here don’t get a job. Not because they are not able to write a decent paper from time to time....
female applicant will get it

Not the only reason but the trend in Germany is women uber alles it's been handed down from admins everywhere.

Just saying. It’s a fact. She has good publications and respectable background, good pipeline and is well connected.

As long as there are positions that go to males, I cannot take your whining seriously
Sure, the system will only be fair if not a single position goes to males. That's the only position which will drive us forward. That's exactly the kind of thinking which annoys people. Most people would agree that more women are a good thing and that they should be supported but publications etc. should also play some role

From reading this thread you would think that the majority of Econ positions in the last year was offered to women. That is just not true.
From my experience: Men that believe they don't get a job because they are male are typically men that only excel in posting here, but not in actual research.
Strong male researchers are still coveted by everyone.

It just makes sense to talk about FHs here as well. There is oversupply for professorships at universities. So candidates look for alternatives. By law FH professorships are very similar. Yes, there is a higher teaching load, you don't get a secretary and research associates and the research environment is worse (but the number of research professorships at FHs is increasing). But apart from that? For many this is second-best to a position at a university (for some even first-best). From what I heard there were around 100 applications per FH professorship in economics lately.

The point is not that only women are being offered positions, but there is an explicit and very real directive over the past, say, two years to focus on women almost exclusively. Does this mean men don't get hired? No. It means that, ceteris paribus, being a woman is the edge you need. It also means that when things are NOT equal, the bonus for being a female is enough to pull others over the top.
It doesn't dominate all facets of hiring (pubs, experience, etc.) but it is a substantial bonus in the past few years.
