So whats going on with the behavioral W3 position at LMU? They held flyouts ages ago...

Agree, econtwitter (twitter in general) brings out the narcissistic, neurotic people desperate for attention. At least with EJMR there\'s not much incentive for those people to spill their drivel here. Which is not to say there\'s no problems on EJMR, but overall I enjoy reading it much more than econtwitter.
Not EJMR is toxic, but Econtwitter. And exactly these Twitter-econs find the twitter-environment too small and therefore also use this forum. Wirklich schade

EJMR - the self help group for frustrated AfD-fanboys PhD students without any job prospects whatsoever. Plus the occasional frustrated Stefan Homburg Type old man professor. Yeah, sure you find Econtwitter toxic.
In what kind of bubble are you living in? AfD PhD students? Nowadays?! Never ever.
Quite the opposite is true: Universities are flooded with left-wing and social activist students and exactly these types are pushed for PhDs - especially for inequality research topics like gender studies and socialist economics, the left-wing supreme-discipline.

It's actually a mix of
- optimistic PhD students who think their worst chapter will end up in the AEJs, hence no hire of any university is ever good enough
- frustrated Postdocs

Socialist economics? Seriously? Can you point me to at least one of such (recent, i.e. not older then 30 years) papers by a German PhD student?

Not even one paper necessary, just look at the work of the DIW (Fratzscher) or IMK (Dullien). The left-wing networks in German economics are pretty big and constantly pushing for social change, what mostly means universal egalitarianism in their intentions. Probably the better wording would be cultural marxism, but still massively associated with socialism.

You guys can't read. Maybe Econ at large is dominated by lefty PhDs and profs. The thesis above was about EJMR as a hiding ground for the leftover AfD-fanboys frustrated PhD students with overblown views about themselves. You don't believe that this site here is frequented by the lefty mainstream crowd, do you? Otherwise, they would cheer for Rudi here...

How about splitting this wonderful conversation into two conversations on:
1) "Economics in Germany": general state of economics in the German-speaking countries, like afd fanboys, lefty PhDs, socialism at institutes 2) "German Market": job market in the German-speaking countries and stuff directly the related

I am a democratic socialist with an econ phd and I have never encountered this mysterious cabal of left-wing German economists. Where can I meet them? You mean Fratzscher is a socialist because he pushes for higher taxes on the rich? Give me a break. Socialism means the social ownership of the means of production. Haven't heard Fratzscher advocating for this.
Also, "cultural marxism" is a well-known right-wing dog-whistle. Any cursory internet search would tell you this.
-
Nope, cultural marxism is real. It has been just framed to a alleged right-wing conspiracy to play it down and to frame it dubious. Just compare the Wikipedia article 6 years ago with that of today. Completely re-framed from a serious theory to an alleged conspiracy.
Max Horkheimer summarized the theory of cultural marxism quite good. Quote:
"The Revolution won't happen with guns, rather it will happen incrementally, year by year, generation by generation. We will gradually infiltrate their educational institutions and their political offices, transforming them slowly into Marxist entities as we move towards universal egalitarianism."
Bottom line: Cultural marxism is not like the original theory about brutal revolutions, but about cultural change to achieve universal egalitarianism.

guys, don't get distracted by the 1 or 2 afd-trolls here. They (or one guy only) have been active in this thread for over 3 years (I think they entered when the trhread got discussed in FAZ or something). They push the anti-gender/anti-socialism/anti-Berlin/anti-immigrant proSarrazin agenda and hope we pick up on their one-liners. It seems to me that a large part of this conversation is generated from one guy using different vpns and responding to his own posts. Just ignore them.
