What's your problem with the article? It deals with the increasing dependence of science on politics in the specific case of the appointment of the Expert Council. This is a serious problem and it is appropriate to discuss the Council's callings here.
It is absolutely annoying that you use the plural "we" in your formulations as if you were speaking for everyone, even though you only represent your personal individual opinion.

Right of center = CDU/CSU, FDP
"(far) left" = Die Linke. Or more extreme = MLDP, Maoists, Communists etc.
"(far) right" = AfD. Or more extreme = NDP etc.
I do not know any German economists that would qualify as "far left". However, I seem to vaguely remember there is a German party that is "far right" that was indeed founded by a group of influential German economists.Yes, there is no tenured economist left of center who would be comparable to UvS or SH.
SPD = left-of-center? Since when? With agenda 2010 it is "right-of-center". Read political science papers about the qualification of German parties in an international setting.
