In fact, if you just scroll through his twitter posts it is indeed the full spectrum of the conspiracy theorists: COVID somehow isn't real, is made up, is just a flu, serves certain sinister goals, death are constructed, RKI is lying and fabricating data, Gates is somehow involved etc etc.

I have yet to see a truly outstanding, not yet deadwood converted academic being very active on twitter - just too time consuming. I suspect a strong negative correlation between activity level on twitter and research productivity (the Twitter gap, visible some years down the road after the academic succumbed to the addictive power of the attention game). So all in all, no surprise here, Bonn faculty is not relevant in the grand scheme of things research wise and irate they are not heard in Berlin (would also ignore them were they of MIT quality, but that‘s another issue), so why not take to Twitter?
